Each year the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) present the OCEANS Conference. This is the largest international professional meeting and exposition devoted to the full spectrum of ocean sciences, technology, policy, engineering, and education. According to the organisators, OCEANS 2005 will be a major forum for ocean scientists, engineers, industry end users and suppliers, technologists, educators and researchers, policymakers, and the public throughout the world to present their latest research results, state-ofˆthe-art technologies, future concepts, and innovative ideas to their peers and many others who are involved in the future of our "One Ocean."

Our partner in Malaysia, Elcee Instrumentation & Services Sdn. Bhd (www.elcee-inst.com.my), will participate in the second International Hydrographic and Oceanographic Industry 2005 Conference and Exhibition (IHOCE 2005) (www.fr-exhibitions.com.my/iho05/), to be held in Kuala Lumpur July 5-7. The theme for the conference is Acceleration of Initiatives for Ocean Exploration, Underwater and Offshore Technologies, Hydrographic and Oceanographic Sector in the Region with the emphasis of meteorological and oceanographical advancements for the Tsunami warning.

Product announcement
Capsum is steadily building up its competences in technologies and solutions for underwater dissolved gas sensing. The product range will be extended with the HYDROS, a sensor for dissolved hydrogen, based on a similar technology as for the METS. The first two HYDROS have already been field tested.

A further promising addition is a novel optode sensor for dissolved oxygen, the D-OPTO. The first version of the D-OPTO is available for shallow waters. The sensor is provided also as fully autonomous D-Opto logger, with integrated data logging and batteries.
